“If I were president, I’d make the sympto-thermal method a mandatory course in high school; surely it’s not any more complicated than algebra.” 👏🏼👏🏼Here for this energy!

Great piece. I wrote about this recently too and it’s so inspiring seeing so many women share their thoughts and experiences. Did that article spark the revolution??😎

Very much enjoyed this, especially the bit about us on the beach watching the tumultuous waters our grandmothers had to swim in-what a perfect way to describe the lie we were sold. I’m going to add this piece to the footnote in my own on this same topic!

Thank you for sharing your story! I have had my own journey in this area too... Leading me to start teaching the sympto-thermal method! My first class is this weekend. I can't wait to get started.

"I could've avoided a good portion of those panicked plan-B's if I'd had just like a single 1 hour class with the scare-free medical information you seem to only be able to get from medical personel once you're trying to get pregnant rather than trying to avoid it."

YES that is so well-said! I really mourn the fact that as a teenager, no one taught me about my cycles, how they work, how to embrace them and work with them instead of getting rid of them like they're nothing but a nuisance. To me this is the epitome of the feminine-hostile society we live in. And also yes to reclaiming the word "fertility" as more than just the ability to become pregnant. Most of us get our periods are 12 or 11, and stopped menstruating around 50. We're not having children through the duration of these forty years, in fact most women in highly developed societies will have their kids within a small margin of years, but we shouldn't stop caring about our fertility outside those few years.
